Man harassed daughter-in-law

A man who sexually harassed his daughter-in-law was taken into custody immediately from a court on Monday.

The man, 61, identified only as Jang, put his arms around his daughter-in-law’s waist, and kissed against her will from December 2011 to June 2013, the court said in its ruling.

The daughter-in-law, identified only as “A,” said she did not report the assaults to police because she wanted to protect her family.

A and her husband, Jang’s son, moved out of Jang’s house in June 2013.

On Aug. 9, 2013, Jang’s wife called A at home, saying “Your father-in-law wants to see his grandson.” But when A came to the house with her son, Jang was alone and harassed her again.

Jang said, “You know I care for you just like my daughter? Let me hug you,” and told her to sit on his lap.

When A refused, Jang pulled her arms and kissed her, saying, “I always want to kiss you.” the court said.

When A sent a text message to husband about what happened, her husband sent a text message to Jang, telling him not touch A. Jang apologized and asked her to delete the messages.

The husband then began to abuse A after the harassment. In September 2013, when she was pregnant, he hit A’s head and buttocks. He also said, “I will hit the baby to kill in your womb.”

When the husband filed for divorce in July 2014, A also filed a suit and reported Jang and her husband.

Jang claimed she told lies to win a divorce, but the court ruled in favor of A. The husband Jang was fined 1 million won for the assault.
