Vacationers packed Haeundae Beach in Busan amid the sweltering heat Sunday.
Some 800,000 people came to cool down at the beach in the southeastern port city.
The Haeundae District Office had expanded the beach area and installed some 6,000 parasols to accommodate the expected crowds.
But that was not enough as the massive throngs of people filled the coastline.
The first week of August is the peak season for summer vacation.
