Women's university hosts hanbok party

A club at Duksung Women's University is hosting a hanbok party on Thursday night.

The party marks the club "flower shoes"’s fifth year. It was established after a guest wearing hanbok, or traditional dress, was denied entry to the Shilla Hotel in 2011.

It aims to alter people's thoughts that traditional attire is outdated and make hanbok more popular among young people.

The club started with 150 participants but this year there are more than 300 who have signed up through blogs and Facebook.

Participants, clad in hanbok, will play traditional games. There also will be a hanbok queen contest.

People who do not own hanbok will be able to rent one for 150,000 won at the party.

Oh In-kyung, the head of renowned hanbok brand Inohjudan as well as local SNS star “Hanbok Girl” will attend.

"We are hosting the hanbok party in order to make the traditional attire more popular among young people, as well as diversify the uniform college festival culture here," Seo Jung-in, president of the club, said.
