The group of feminist activists and peace advocates that crossed the inter-Korean transition border on Sunday by bus after being denied permission to march through the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) will attempt a border march again next year.

But this time they will cross from the South to the North, Women Cross DMZ was quoted as saying this week.

"We will walk for peace and disarmament on May 24 next year, on International Women's Day," an affiliate of the organization said Tuesday, adding that the organization would again attempt to march through the Joint Security Area of Panmunjeom.

The South Korean Government and the United Nations Command rejected the activists’ request to march through the area and they were given the alternative of taking a bus to cross the border.

"We ventured on this journey of holding these events with the intent to continue these crossings until the ceasefire (armistice) agreement will turn into a peace treaty," a member of the group said.
