Koreans flocked to cherry blossom festivals in Gangwon and North Chungcheong Provinces as well as Incheon at the weekend. In southern parts of the country, where the cherry blossoms have already fallen, people came to see azaleas and rape flowers.
About 100,000 people attended the rape blossom festival at an ecological park in Daejeo-dong, western Busan, the nation’s largest rape flower site ― 760,000 square meters.
Another 200,000 people attended an azalea festival at Mt. Cheonju in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province.
And about 30,000 people came to see the cherry blossoms at Everland amusement park in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
Mt. Seorak and Mt. Odae in Gangwon Province attracted some 10,000 hikers, who came to enjoy the spring scenery.
