Four people were found dead in a car in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province in an apparent group suicide, police said Sunday.

According to the Gyeongju Police Station, the car owner, 43, and his sister, 40, both from Ulsan, and two other men, 28 and 33, from Gwanju, South Jeolla Province and from Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, respectively, were found in a Magnus sedan parked near a mountain in Gampo on Saturday 5:00 p.m.

A resident called police after noticing the car was parked in the same place for more than a week.

Police said they believe the four died more than a week ago.

Police said the car doors and windows were sealed with masking tape, and a burnt coal briquette, fire brazier, and bottles of alcohol were found near the front seat.

A suicide note from the car owner was also found, asking to handle his belongings after his death, police said.

Of the four, the 28-year-old victim was a job seeker who was suffering from financial difficulties. He was placed on the missing persons’ list on March 25, police said.

Police will expand the investigation to find out how the four met.

They are trying to locate the families of the deceased and plan to question them.
