A 23-year-old man was arrested on charges of getting around 300 teenage girls to send him nude photos or videos, and forcing some of them to have sex with him.
Songpa Police in Seoul said that the man, surnamed Kim, allegedly received the photos and videos through his cell phone from girls between the ages of 9 and 15 from December 2013 to last month.
Police found thousands of such photos and videos, which included scenes of him having sex with minors.
According to police, Kim pretended to be a teenage girl in SNS mobile messengers such as Line and Kakaotalk, telling the victims to share photos of their naked bodies. He then demanded they send more lewd photos, threatening that if they refused, he would make public the photos the girls had already sent.
He had sex with some of the victims in return for not making their photos public, police said.
Police were alerted to Kim’s alleged activities when a 13-year-old girl, to whom Kim demanded to have sex, went to the authorities.
Kim had a previous conviction for similar crimes.
