Some high school seniors who took the national College Scholastic Aptitude Test (CSAT) last week are selling their test admission tickets on the Internet, with buyers using the slips

to get student discounts

.

The CSAT is a make-or-break test for seniors, who spend all day inside schools taking the test. After testing day, many businesses offer discounts to students who show their test slips -- a small piece of paper that proves they took the examination.

Students were selling their tests slips at Joonggo Nara, a virtual community of 13 million on web portal Naver, for up to 80,000 won ($72.89). Joonggo Nara roughly translates to “Land of Used Products.”

"I'm selling my test slip for 40,000 won," one female poster said, adding her mobile phone number and location.

Another student surnamed Lee, who took the test last Thursday, said she could make more money by selling her slip than what she could save from the offers accompanying it.

"I probably won't have time to use my ticket for all those deals anyway," she said. “The money I would get if somebody buys it is probably more than I would be able to save through the discounts."

Most offers on Joonggo Nara range from 30,000 won to 80,000 won.

An official at the National Police Agency said selling and buying the tickets is not technically illegal. However, the officer said that falsely identifying oneself as the test-taker can constitute identity fraud and criminal use of an official document.

Current discount offers include a half-price ticket on express railway KTX, up to 80 percent off of clothing and shoes and free meals at buffet restaurants.
