Seo indicted for beating wife

TV personality Seo Se-won has been indicted on charges of assaulting his wife during an argument, the prosecution said Monday.

Surveillance camera recordings showed Seo hitting his wife Seo Jung-hee in May in the lobby of a building in Cheongdam-dong, southern Seoul.

He allegedly pushed her, and choked her because she insisted on going to a different church than he does, the prosecution said.

When the wife fell to the floor after he pushed her, he allegedly dragged her by the leg from an elevator.

As a result, the wife sustained an injury that required three weeks of hospital treatment.

In September, the Seoul Family Court granted her request for a six-month extension of a restraining order against her husband. After 32 years of marriage, she filed for a divorce in July.

The court is currently reviewing the case.
