The top official of Vietnam's Communist Party plans to visit South Korea next month for talks with South Korean President Park Geun-hye, Park's office said Friday.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong is scheduled to arrive in Seoul on Oct.1 on a trip aimed at discussing ways to boost bilateral relations.
Park's office said it expects Trong's visit to further consolidate trust and friendship between the leaders of the two countries and strengthen mutual cooperation.
Trong is set to return home on Oct. 4
Last year, Park made a state visit to Vietnam, decades after her late father President Park Chung-hee sent troops to fight alongside the United States in the Vietnam War. (Yonhap)
