The Korea Foundation (KF) opened recruitment for their global Think Tank Internship Programs, Monday.

The program offers internships for Korean students and opportunities for researchers and visiting scholars from leading policy institutions around the world.

KF is an organization for Korea’s international exchange and public diplomacy initiatives.

The program started in 2011 with two overseas institutions including the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (WWICS) in Washington D.C. Since then, it has expanded to seven institutions, offering a wide range of studies.

KF assistant director Flora Rhee said, “The Global Fellow Internship Programs will offer opportunities for those in qualified positions for international studies and policy-making studies.”

The program participants can either further pursue their academic paths or become employed at domestic policy institutions after completing the overseas internships, according to Rhee.

“It was a valuable experience to have an internship abroad. I learned so much,” said Shin Hee-young, a 2013 fellow internship participant assigned to the WWICS in Washington D.C.

The application period started on Sept. 11 and runs through Oct. 1. The internship program is available only for Korean citizens who are current students in a graduate school degree program or recent graduates (within one calendar year), with at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
