North Korea announced Friday that it will hold a unicameral legislative meeting later this month for the second time this year.
According to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) has decided to hold the second session of the 13th SPA in Pyongyang on Sept. 25.
However, it failed to report what issues will be discussed at the parliament's major meeting, but Seoul expects that it will be about the introduction of an important policy or Cabinet reshuffle.
"Also, issues associated with organizational changes or personnel management will likely be discussed," said Lim Byeong-cheol, a spokesman for the unification ministry.
The first session took place on April 9 and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was reelected as first chairman of the country's National Defense Commission, and Kim Yong-nam was retained as president of the Presidium of the SPA. Premier Pak Pong-ju also retained his job at that time.
The SPA is the Stalinist country's rubber-stamp legislature and convened once or twice a year, bringing together 687 delegates from across the country.
