Though families are recovering bodies of the victims of the Sewol disaster, some of them are being returned to wrong family by mistake, Media Today reported.
The authorities said they would impose a mandatory DNA test on the body for identity confirmation before it is returned to a family.
The measure comes after a number of cases were reported with some families saying they have the wrong body.
So far, three cases of mistaken corpses were reported, and the official who was in charge of the task was harshly criticized by the parents and the media.
The measure is aimed at preventing what should have never happened, but to some families who immediately recognize their children’s body, it is another bureaucracy worsening their pain, the report said.
