North Korea might ban the use of smartphones by foreign tourists, Radio Free Asia reported.
Tourism is the major income source of the reclusive state, and the authorities have allowed Wifi-communication during their stay.
According to the source cited by RFA, exchanging e-mails via iPhone was possible.
The source in China showed the e-mail received from a friend who was staying in Pyongyang at the moment, the report said.
At the end of the message, it read “sent from my iPhone,” the report added.
Voice calls are reportedly not allowed in the country, but sending SMS (short messaging service) and e-mails are possible.
This communication reach being expanded is a major headache for the authorities, as the free flow of information with the outside world is the most dreaded change, according to the report.
Wifi connection is reportedly only allowed at hotels in Pyongyang, but the authorities will likely order categorical ban on the use given the dire need to prevent information from outside world.
