1 mil. sign on petition for Yu-na

Listen

Nearly 1 million domestic and foreign fans of figure skating queen Kim Yu-na rushed to sign an online petition calling for an investigation into the controversial judging at the Sochi Games after Kim was denied gold by Russia’s Adelina Sotnikova.

In her final Winter Olympics, Kim was beaten by 5.48 points by Sotnikova, despite her flawless performance.

As of 3 p.m., more than 900,000 supporters had signed the petition at change.org.

The petition is drawing worldwide support from Canada, Australia, the United States and other nations.

In the petition, Justice Seeker said, “Home advantage was the main reason behind the Russian skater’s grabbing the gold.”

The online petition aims to collect 1 million signatures. Netizens believe that if the online petition picks up 1 million signatures, the International Skating Union (ISU) will be under greater pressure to open an investigation into the judging decision.

Michael Kingsmith, a Canadian who signed the petition, wrote that: “This is the biggest scandal ever in women figure skating history. ISU judges should feel shame and get fired or get investigated by the IOC.”
