A professor of a famous private university in Seoul is being investigated by the police for using a hidden camera to take inappropriate pictures of a woman sitting behind him in a theater. He has also been accused of taking photos of select body parts of his female lab students.
On May 18, the business administration professor, 51, of K University used a small camera hidden in his watch to take pictures up the skirt of the woman sitting behind him in a Seoul theater.
The woman became suspicious of the fidgeting professor, who immediately left the theater after perceiving the woman’s discomfort. The woman reported to the police that day after finding his business card left on the seat.
The professor has accepted most of the charges against him and will go through disciplinary procedures, the university said.
"The school also feels the need to conduct a disciplinary measure, as it has recently been discovered that the professor did not simply take photos with hidden cameras, but took photos of no other than his own students," a university affiliate said. "We will set up a disciplinary board and determine our response to the professor's misconduct."
The professor lectured his class during the first semester, but will not be teaching summer classes.
The professor used a small hidden camera in the shape of a USB to take photos of his students' bodies, according to an affiliate of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
The professor has also secretly taken pictures of women in restaurant restrooms. He keeps approximately 3,000 photos of select body parts of women on his computer.
