WASHINGTON, July 15 (Yonhap) -- Four U.S. congressmen who participated in the Korean War will be honored in a ceremony next week to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the three-year war, a volunteer group here said Monday.

The Descendants of Korean War Foundation (DKWF) said it would hold a recognition and awards reception and dinner for Korean War veterans and their families on Friday, the eve of the Korean War armistice anniversary.

Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX), a Korean War veteran, plans to deliver a keynote speech for the event, according to the group, based in Washington, D.C.

The DKWF added it would award special scholarships in honor of Johnson and three other congressmen who participated in the Korean War -- Reps. John Conyers (D-MI), Howard Coble (R-NC) and Charlie Rangel (D-NY).

DKWF is working to commemorate those who fought for freedom and democracy on Korea and enhance public understanding on the war, dubbed "the Forgotten War."

The Pentagon is campaigning to spread the expression "the Forgotten Victory."
