A survey shows single men and women often lie about their personal lives, men saying, “I choose not to date,” and women claiming, “I get a lot of dating proposals.”
Matchmaking consulting service, Noblesse Soohyun, surveyed 812 single people (403 men and 409 women) asking about “What’s the No. 1 lie singles tell?” on July 11.
Survey results for men show they choose not to date (152, 37.7 percent), don’t have high standards (118, 29.4 percent), have been asked out a lot (88, 21.9 percent), and are not lonely (45, 11 percent).
Results for women show they have been asked out many times (187, 45.6 percent), choose not to date (123, 30.1 percent), are not lonely (63, 15.5 percent), and don’t have high standards (36, 8.8 percent).
Jung, 33, said, “In men’s cases, having a girlfriend represents a man’s competence, so single men often say they’re not looking for a relationship to cover up their inadequacies.”
Director of the matchmaking service, Soohyun, stated, “Both male and female singles don’t like to be pitied by others, which may be the reason why they tell such fibs.”
