How much do Interns make?

Company interns earn an average of 910,000 won a month by working 7.7 hours on average per day.

Job Korea, an online employment site, announced the result with a recent survey of 537 workers and job seekers.

It shows 66.7 percent of the respondents stated they had experience as an intern.

The daily working hours were eight (38.5 percent), nine (18.3 percent), six (9.7 percent), and seven (8.6 percent), with the average hours standing at seven hours and 42 minutes.

Twenty one percent said they received about 1 million won and the average pay was 910,000 won.

One point six percent replied they earned approximately 1.8 million won while 6 percent said they got only 500,000 won.

Work sites included small and mid-sized firms (51 percent), public enterprises (33.5 percent), conglomerates (21.7 percent), and foreign companies (5.2 percent).

Sixty two percent answered they worked overtime or extra hours but only 21.9 percent were receiving overtime pay.

Their tasks covered handling documents or inputting data (39.5 percent), direct work with clients (28.8 percent), and work requiring special knowledge (27.5 percent).

On a side note, 72.2 percent of full-time employees answered interns were helpful to the company.
