College Board, the main operator of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), said Tuesday that it will cut the number of SATs administered in the country to four from six.

On its website, it will cancel two sessions that were scheduled for January and November for the 2013-2014 academic year, while the tests for other countries will be held as planned.

SAT is usually held six times in January, May, June, October, November and December.

The move came after a series of leaks of test questions by some SAT cram schools here. As the extent of cheating was exposed, a number of those schools faced prosecution investigations, while the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and the Ministry of Education shut down eight rule-breaking private institutions last month.

College Board canceled the planned May 4 SAT test and Biology SAT Subject Tests scheduled for June in May, saying “We have confirmed that some SAT and SAT Subject Test material intended for use in the country has been compromised.”

This is the first time that the U.S. operator has cancelled the test across an entire country.
