Police arrested Monday an ex-convict for killing an acquaintance who he suspected of informing on him concerning a previous crime he committed in the eastern coastal city of Donghae.

According to Donghae Coast Guard, the man, identified as Kim, 57, heard rumors that his neighbor, surnamed Lim, reported him to police in 1999 for theft.

Kim invited Lim to his house where he assaulted her with a hammer on May 7, which left her unconscious. He then threw her into the Mukho harbor in Donghae.

The lifeless body of the victim was discovered between boats anchored in the harbor the next day. Initial police investigations led to the arrest of Kim who admitted committing the crime.

“The man confessed to the crime without any hint of any remorse or hesitation after brutally killing his neighbor,” the officer added.
