Listen

South Korea's main opposition party elected a four-term lawmaker as its new leader on Saturday, pledging to edge toward centrist policies and carry out intra-party reforms in a move to win more public support.

Kim Han-gil, 60, became the new leader of the Democratic Party (DP), which has been previously known as the Democratic United Party, at the leadership election, defeating his rival Rep. Lee Yong-sup. He won 61.72 percent of the vote against 38.28 percent by Lee.
