A mother beat her own 30-month-old to death because he wasn’t getting used to toilet training. She is now in custody at the Gwangsan police station in Gwangju.
She allegedly beat her son with a broomstick. The next day, the mother phoned her acquaintance in her church group and said, “My son is not breathing.”
The acquaintance visited her and found the naked baby in the bathroom floor.
The police suspect the baby was beaten to death. Bruises were found on his body and the mother confessed to hitting the baby.
The mother, who is mentally retarded, was raising the 30-month-old and a 14-month-old by herself. She was also pregnant at the time.
The police is now investigating the case; autopsy of the baby will be included. They will request an arrest warrant.
