A company worker who lives in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, got a surprise of his life as he was looking through his text messages on his cell phone. He was charged with 340,000 won ($300) over a two-day period last month by a mobile carrier.
Apparently, his young daughter had made numerous purchases while playing mobile games on his phone.
The mobile carrier sent him repeated messages of the purchases while the child was playing the mobile game.
“There was no way that I could know about the billings but it really makes no sense that companies make sales to innocent children who have no concept about money,” he said.
When asked, the child said he downloaded a free mobile game as a guest and simply said yes when the “Item” icon came on.
He complained that there was no process of checking if the actual person was playing the game and managed to get a discount of over 200,000 ($180).
