Lotte Hotel Moscow, the Korean hotel group Lotte Hotels & Resorts’ property in Russia, has been recognized as the best hotel in the country by a renowned travel magazine.

The hotel group said Thursday that readers of Conde Nast Traveler, an American hospitality magazine, selected Lotte for the Best City Hotel in Russia at the Readers’ Choice Awards 2012 held in Moscow on Nov. 15.

The annual award is regarded as the “Oscar” of the hospitality industry. More than 46,000 readers worldwide were surveyed to select top cities, islands, hotels, resorts, cruises and airlines.

“It is meaningful because travelers recognized the two-year-old Korean local brand hotel provides better services than numerous international brand chain hotels operating in the country,” an official of Lotte Hotel Seoul said.

Morten Andersen, general manager of the Moscow hotel, said, “This is our first project outside of Korea and we are tremendously proud that our hotel has won the most prestigious gold star of the industry.”

Along with Park Hyatt Seoul, Lotte Hotel Seoul located in central Seoul was listed in a separate category of Top 10 Hotels in Japan and South Korea. Of the 10 hotels, Korea’s Lotte and Japan’s Park Hotel Tokyo were the only local brands.
