Sex slavery of believer, pastor gets 13 years in prison

A pastor has been handed a heavy prison term for forcing believers to take nude photos and videos and threatening them with posting the materials on illegal websites for a number of years.

The Seoul Appellate Court on Wednesday sentenced Chung, a 38-year-old junior pastor, to 13 years in jail for earning sex favors in exchange for not posting the nude photos and videos on the Internet.

The court also directed that his criminal information be made available for 10 years while forcing him to wear an ankle bracelet for 15 years.

“The sexual deviant habitually forced women believers to engage in sex, even going to the extent of extorting them of money. The nature of the crime is extremely lurid. He also forced the children of his victims to engage in sexual actions.

“The sentence was unfortunately reduced because some of his activities exceeded the stature of limitation,” the presiding judge said.

The suspect activities have been tracked back to April 2008 when he began chatting over the phone with a 36-year-old woman who was a member of his congregation.

He made her take nude photos of herself and send them to him by phone, following which he threatened to post them on websites if she refused to do what he demanded.

He engaged in such activities on scores of occasions and was handed a 15-year prison term at the initial trial.
