Heinous rape-murderer in Seoul faces death sentence

The prosecution is seeking the death penalty for the 42-year-old Seo Jin-won who has been charged with killing a housewife in Junggok-dong in northern Seoul after failing to rape her.

A Seoul court in the eastern district convened a hearing Thursday morning and heard the prosecution demand capital punishment for Seo.

“Seo has been sentenced to a total of 18 years in prison for past sexual offenses but continue to prey on innocent women after taking Viagra. For him, rape is just a game.

“The fact that he committed another heinous crime is evidence that he simply cannot suppress his instinct for committing sex crimes,” the prosecutor in charge said.

The husband of the victim, a 39-year-old Park, similarly asked that Seo be given the death penalty, saying that his heart is ripped apart from morning to nightfall as his children ask about the whereabouts of their mother.
