President Lee Myung-bak instructed the Cabinet on Tuesday to make sure to use all the government budget for this year to help spur the slowing economy, his spokesman said.

"The economy is in difficulty and is projected to grow at a lower rate than expected," Lee said during a regular Cabinet meeting, according to presidential spokesman Park Jeong-ha. "Each ministry should thoroughly execute the budget to leave no budget unused or to be carried over."

Lee also told officials to ensure there will be no disruptions in electricity supply as demand is expected to rise as the weather gets colder, stressing that atomic power plants in South Korea are much safer compared with those in other nations, according to the spokesman. (Yonhap)
