A woman in her 20s used her resourcefulness under threatening circumstances to make away from a taxi driver who was apparently under the influence of drugs.
According to the police in Taejon, the 22-year-old Kim was picked by by the 43-year-old Goh on a downtown street at about 5:30 in the morning of Oct. 9.
Refusing to allow Kim to get off once they arrived at the destination, Goh demanded that she hand over her cell phone, saying that he had to make a call. He then said he took drugs, locked the doors and flashed a knife.
Goh drove to a remote location. While afraid, Kim noticed that her phone was in the passenger seat, managed to sneak it, called 112 for help while Goh was not paying attention.
Goh then dragged to a motel in a nearby area and tried to assault her sexually but Kim calmly said she did not want to have sex with him and talked about her family to calm him down.
After an hour of this entanglement, Goh got tired, gave up on assaulting Kim and let her off at the Daejon Station at 7:40 a.m. Theh police, alerted by the 112 call, tracked down the taxi and detained Goh.
