Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik will make an official visit to Denmark next week to boost cooperation with the European country and to attend an international forum on green growth, his office said Tuesday.
During his four-day trip scheduled from Oct. 7, Kim will hold bilateral talks with his Danish counterpart Helle Thorning-Schmidt to explore ways to strengthen cooperation in diverse fields including environment-friendly growth, trade and investment, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said.
Kim will then participate in the second round of the Global Green Growth Forum and deliver a keynote speech to highlight Seoul's efforts to boost energy efficiency and development in relevant technologies such as a smart grid system and secondary batteries, according to the PMO.
The two-day forum is set to be held in Copenhagen from Oct. 8 under the theme of resource efficiency and growth, its organizer said.
It will bring about 200 global leaders including Angel Gurria, secretary-general of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, as well as chiefs of major international companies such as Siemens and Philips.
Kim also plans to ask the international community for support for the Global Green Growth Institute, a South Korea-established international body which aims to develop strategies for environment-friendly economic growth drivers, according to the PMO.
"Kim's trip to Denmark is expected to solidify the foundation for developing bilateral relations and to contribute to spreading green growth strategies led by South Korea further into the international community," the PMO said in a statement.(Yonhap)
