President Lee Myung-bak made a surprise appearance on a TV program promoting the hiring of high school graduates without college degrees, the presidential office said Tuesday.
Lee played the role of a member of the judging panel in the KBS 1TV program "Scout" where four competitors from vocational and specialized high schools vied for a position at Korea's top steelmaker POSCO.
The program was recorded last week and will be broadcast Wednesday evening.
Lee decided to make the appearance to spread a message that hiring should be based on merit, not on academic background, the presidential office said in a statement. (Yonhap)
