Listen

A college student reported himself to police with his family members and confessed to the rape of a high school girl in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, on Sept. 6, police said Monday.

The police consequently arrested the 23-year-old collegian, who lives near the scene of crime, on charges of raping the 15-year-old girl, a police spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, the man armed with a knife forced her to the second floor of a building with one-room houses, which is under construction, and raped her at 11:25 p.m. on Sept. 6.

At the time, the girl, wearing earphones, was returning home, he said.

He said he assaulted the girl because she refused to apologize for bumping into him in the street, according to the spokesman.

The collegian, who is on a leave of absence, lives 2 kilometers away from the scene of rape, he said. He had no previous criminal record.
