Shadow bout of ex-presidents

The main opposition Democratic United Party (DUP) has selected Rep. Moon Jae-in as its standard bearer for the Dec. 19 presidential election and the former human rights lawyer will compete against Rep. Park Geun-hye, candidate of the ruling Saenuri Party.

Now the attention is on how the two contenders will overcome the “shadows of past governments,” in which they played significant roles, as a chief of presidential staff, and the de-factor first-lady after the death of Yuk Young-soo, wife of the late President Park Chung-hee.
