Police arrested a 27-year-old man on Thursday on suspicion of murdering his former girl friend and her sister at their home in Ulsan in July.

The suspect, Kim Hong-il, said he killed them because his girl friend refused to see him.

Officers apprehended Kim after receiving a report that he was hiding on a mountain in Kijang-gun, northeastern Busan.

On July 20, Kim allegedly broke into the house where the sisters were living and first killed his girl friend’s sister, who was sleeping in the living room.

He then is suspected of having killed the girlfriend as she attempted to call 911, police said.

Kim drove to the mountain two days after the crime and spent around two months hiding there. He was found to have survived on canned coffee, water and bread that construction workers had left in the vicinity.

Kim confessed to the murder.
