Justice Minister Kwon Jae-jin said Monday that no clues have emerged on suspected illegal campaign funds connected to the 2007 presidential election.
Kwon said in a parliamentary interpellation session that prosecutors will launch an investigation in accordance with laws if there are any clues related to the case.
His comment came days after Choi See-joong, a former government communications regulator with close ties with President Lee Myung-bak, claimed he received 600 million won ($525,000) from a property developer for Lee's election campaign.
The justice minister said, however, it is difficult to view Choi's reported remarks as a clue for a possible investigation into the case. (Yonhap)
