Long overnight negotiations between the truckers' union and the transportation association failed to resolve the ongoing truck drivers' strike by Friday.

Thousands of unionized truckers have been on strike since Monday, demanding the government increase fees and reduce fuel costs.

During the second round of negotiations that lasted for nearly 12 hours well past 2 a.m. on Friday, the union and the Container Transportation and Container Yard Operator's Association tried to iron out their differences on a key agenda item of an increase in freight fees.

In the first round of talks, the union called for an average fare increase of 30 percent, while the association proposed a 4 to 5 percent raise. The difference narrowed, with the offers from each side ending at 23 percent and 6 percent, according to the truckers' union.

The talks resumed at 7 a.m. Friday. (Yonhap)
