Man sought on charges of maltreating teen

Listen

Police sought an arrest warrant Tuesday for a man who allegedly committed atrocities against a female teenager.

The victim, now 19, said her nightmare began when she was a middle school student, according to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul.

One day, her mother brought home a strange man, surnamed Kim, after she had separated from her husband. At that time, Kim was in his late 20s, and was short.

The young victim said Kim maltreated her every two or three days, a police spokesman said, declining to give details of the maltreatment.

However, she said she could not inform her mother or friends of his alleged atrocities.

She said that after suffering from the nightmare for seven years, she ran away from home.

During initial questioning, she told investigators that she left her house because she was annoyed by her parents’ interference.

However, in a face-to-face interrogation a day later, she said her running away from home was caused by the atrocities allegedly committed by the man.
