The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency arrested the manager of a delivery service firm on Tuesday on suspicion of killing a junior staff member two weeks ago in the company’s office.
Park, 43, faces charges of homicide for murdering Choi, 45, by hitting him on the head with a weapon confiscated from an employee on May 25 in Gonghang-dong, western Seoul.
Park is also accused of dumping Choi’s body on a road side flower bed near Incheon International Airport Logistics Park in Unseo-dong.
Investigators said Park used company funds for personal use, and planned on erasing the sales data and quitting the company. In order to persuade Choi to keep quiet, Park invited Choi to drink alcohol together in the office.
While they were drinking, Park claimed Choi cautioned him by saying, “A younger person like you should live out life doing the right thing.” Infuriated, Park took out a weapon from his desk drawer and struck Choi.
Choi’s older sister, 47, reported that her brother was missing and the police began an investigation.
Park planned to escape to his hometown after having his girlfriend surnamed Lee, 38, transfer 1 million won to him. He was eventually captured, and Lee was also apprehended as an accomplice.
