A man has been ruled to pay alimony for hiding a sexual defect before his marriage and rejecting treatments.

Busan Family Court Monday ordered a 34-year-old man to pay his 30-year-old wife 20 million won and hand over the wedding presents and furnishings that she brought in.

“The husband did not inform his wife of his sexual deficiency before their marriage and refused to get treatment after marriage, leading to a collapse of the relations, including her psychological distress,” Chang Hong-sun, chief judge of a panel.

The couple married in November 2010, 10 months after meeting through a matchmaking agency. However, the husband was unable to have regular sex due to erectile dysfunction.

The wife made both parents know about the fact and suggested her husband get a medical checkup, but the husband refused, the defendant claimed in the suit.
