More than 2,000 people are set to march in a gay pride parade in Seoul on Saturday aimed at promoting the rights of sexual minorities, organizers said Friday.

Sponsored by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, the "2012 Queer Parade," the 13th of its kind, will be held at Hanbit Media Park in central Seoul at 4:30 p.m., organizers said, adding the event is expected to draw its highest-ever participation.

This year's event is designed to raise general awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and emphasize their right to form a family, according to the organizers.

Korea does not outlaw homosexuality, but the gay rights movement has remained relatively low profile. (Yonhap)
