The man behind the main opposition party’s drive to politicize the free trade accord with the United States (KORUS FTA) ahead of the April elections is likely to face a trade accord missionary in the April 11 general election.
Party insiders said Monday that former Trade Minister Kim Jong-hoon may be picked as the standard-bearer of the conservative camp to run in the southern Seoul district where Rep. Chung Dong-young of the Democratic United Party (DUP) announced he would run earlier.
Chung pushed the DUP leadership to play the anti-KORUS FTA card as a campaign tactic.
