Travelers seeking to fly to Jeju Island from Gimpo and other inland airports next month will be able to purchase a one-way ticket for only 19,900 won ($17) from Eastar Jet, beginning Dec. 5. The event will last through Dec. 22.

The low-cost carrier said discounted tickets will be offered on a first-come and first-serve basis. From Monday to Wednesday, seats will be available for those who fly to the country’s southern resort island from Gimpo, Gunsan and Chungju airports. Travelers flying from Jeju International Airport to the three inland airports will be able to purchase discounted tickets from Tuesday until Thursday.

An Eastar Jet spokesman said the airline is offering the special promotion on Jeju tickets to celebrate Jeju Island’s designation as one of the New7Wonders of Nature on Nov. 12. ``Through our promotional event, more people will get a chance to see how beautiful the island is.’’
