Korean man reported missing in Malaysia

A Korean man is missing in Malaysia, prompting embassy officials and local police to launch a search, Seoul's foreign ministry said Wednesday.

The 53-year-old man, identified only by his surname Kim, was last in touch with his family on Oct. 30, one day after he told them he was heading to meet someone at the airport, the ministry said in a statement.

Kim had lived in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital, for 10 years and served as the vice president of the Korean community there.

The Korean embassy in Kuala Lumpur has asked the local police to conduct a swift probe into the case and is carrying out its own search efforts by spreading fliers in areas with large Korean populations, the ministry said. (Yonhap)
