Wedding consultancy client info stolen

A wedding consultancy reported to police that the information on 1,500 of its clients has been stolen.

According to police, the head of the company in southern Seoul claimed that a computer hard disk containing clients’ personal information was missing.

The disk contained clients’ names, addresses, contact numbers, family relations, jobs, school backgrounds and assets, according to the company.

Police suspect the perpetrator may have wanted only personal information, considering only the hard disk was taken from the office.

“The company head said he found the hard disk had gone when he entered the office on Oct. 10 after the firm had been closed over the weekend. We haven’t gathered any clues yet,” an officer at Gangnam Police Station said.

The officer said he didn’t rule out the possibility of an inside job as there was no trace of forced entry.

Investigators are examining fingerprints from the scene and surveillance camera footage, he added.
