Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin held talks with his Swiss counterpart Ueli Maurer Tuesday at the Ministry of National Defense in Seoul.

“The two defense ministers exchanged their views on bilateral military cooperation and regional security issues,” a ministry spokesman said.

He added that Kim and Maurer discussed the role of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission, established by the Korean Armistice Agreement signed July 27, 1953, ending the Korean War in a truce, rather than a peace treaty.

Upon his arrival Monday, Maurer visited the Demilitarized Zone, which separates the two Koreas and the National Cemetery in Seoul.

The 61-year old also held talks with Unification Minister Hyun In-taek to discuss inter-Korean issues.

He is scheduled to head back to Switzerland today.
