Heavy rain expected this week

Listen

Heavy rain is expected in some parts of the country throughout the week, which will help lower the hot temperature, the nation’s weather agency said Wednesday.

A seasonal rain front is expected to affect the peninsula until Saturday, moving northward and southward throughout the week with occasional heavy rain in some parts of the country, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said.

The central region will receive about 20 millimeters of rain per hour on Thursday with over 150 millimeters of rain expected in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon regions.

The rain front will move south starting Friday pouring heavy rain in the southern part of the peninsula through Saturday.

The expected rain will lower the temperature, which soared to over 30 degrees Celsius early this week. As the hot spell gripped the nation, the weather agency issued heat warnings in almost all parts of the country on Monday, for the first time this year.
