That’s one expensive feed.
The winning bidder for a private lunch with billionaire Warren Buffett has set a new record for the cost of dining with the investor, after pledging $2,626,411 for the meal, the Daily Mail reported Sarturday.
A total of two bidders entered eight bids in the online charity auction, which launched last Sunday with a starting pledge of $25,000.
The final bid was actually for just under $2.35million, but the anonymous winner added to that after the auction to surpass last year's winning bid by $111, organizers said.
The auction officially closed at 10:30pm EST on Friday.
Interest was much lower than last year, when nine bidders made a total of 77 bids for the luncheon.
That bid set a record for the most expensive charity item eBay ever sold.
A date has yet to be determined for the winner's lunch with Mr Buffet, 80, at famed Manhattan steakhouse Smith & Wollensky - where a steak lunch starts at $36.50.
