A professor has confessed to the killing of his wife during questioning over her disappearance, police said Tuesday.
The professor’s wife was found dead in an oversized bag near the Nakdong River in Busan, Saturday, 50 days after she was reported missing.
The body, found by a group of students and their teacher, was badly decomposed. It was identified as the missing wife from her fingerprints. Police have questioned him as a prime suspect as her blood stains were detected in the trunk of his car.
The professor was in the process of divorcing his wife, police said.
“I strangled my wife in my car on April 2 in a fit of anger during an argument over the divorce,” he was quoted as saying by an investigator.
Police, however, suspect that the crime was premeditated. Another investigator said it was confirmed Kang bought the oversized bag that contained the body on March 27.
