Lawmakers of the ruling Grand National Party (GNP) voted Thursday to expel Rep. Kang Yong-seok who was accused of making inappropriate sexual remarks at a gathering with university students.

Kang came under fire in late July when he allegedly made sexist remarks during a dinner with dozens of college students who participated in a speech contest hosted by the National Assembly.

Witnesses reportedly said that Kang suddenly gave weird “advice” to the female students.

When one of them told him that she would like to be a TV announcer, he was quoted as saying, “Do you know that you have to give ‘everything’ to become an announcer? You want to become an announcer despite this?”
