Park Geun-hye injured during visit to Daegu

Rep. Park Geun-hye, former chairwoman of the ruling Grand National Party (GNP), sustained a light scratch on her wrist when protesters dashed at her during a ceremony at her constituency in Daegu, Thursday, Yonhap News Agency reported, quoting her aides.

Park was attacked by a group of female unionists of Yeongnam University Medical Center during the ground-breaking ceremony for the extension of the city's subway line, the report said. Park was formerly a board member of the hospital.

Demanding settlement of an ongoing labor dispute at the hospital, the unionists abruptly rushed at her shortly after she took a seat after delivering a congratulatory speech, it said.

Rep. Lee Jung-hyun, who accompanied her on the trip, said, "The injury is not that serious. She applied an ointment for a slight nail scratch," according to Yonhap.

In 2006, Park was slashed close to her face, requiring 60 stitches, by an ex-convict while campaigning for the GNP's candidate for Seoul mayor.

She is one of the strongest potential candidates for the 2012 presidential election.

박근혜, 대구서 가벼운 찰과상

병원 노조원 기습시위

한나라당 박근혜 전 대표가 22일 자신의 지역구인 대구 달성군을 방문, 지하철 연장 기공식에 참석했다 찰과상을 입는 소동이 벌어졌다.

박 전 대표는 이날 달성군 화원읍에서 열린 `대구도시철도 1호선 서편연장 기공식'에 참석했다. 지하철을 달성군까지 연장하는 사업은 박 전 대표가 지난 1998년 정치에 입문한 이후 공약해 온 것이다.

소동은 박 전대표가 축사를 마치고 앉자마자 벌어졌다. `영남대병원 노조관계 정상화' 등을 외치며 영남대병원 여성노조원 수 명이 박 전 대표쪽을 향해 뛰어들었다. 박 전 대표는 과거 영남대 병원 이사를 지냈다.

박 전 대표는 지난 2006년 지방선거 당시 오세훈 서울시장 후보에 대한 지원유세 도중 테러를 당한 적이 있다.

동행한 이정현 의원은 연합뉴스와 통화에서 "손톱에 약간 긁혀 연고를 바른 것으로 염려할 상태는 전혀 아니다"고 말했다.
